Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, I send my greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is my sincere hope that Easter was cerebrated with love and peace, and for those who had in one way or another some troubled experience, May I wish to extend my concerns about the situation and say pole, and I will always continue praying for our friends in TCMA and I think you too pray for TCMA and her members.

The AGM for 2010 is near and I wish to send this letter of invitation to you. The AGM will start September 5 through 9, 2010 with usual timetable as will be indicated below. It is important to observe the dates and see how you can organize yourself for the AGM and probably for some of your duties in Dar es Salaam. It is our wish that despite your much needed time to solve your challenges in Dar probably with the MOHSW, you active participation at the AGM is extremely important.

The Scientific/Clinical day this year will look into the current issues in the World of Medicare today, the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Taking it from your feedback on the evaluation forms and with the inputs from members of the Executive Committee we have decided to have NCDs as our main Scientific Sessions Theme. NCDs, like Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are coming up in the agenda very seriously as they have been neglected but are also taking a lead in Medicare Statistics. Issues which will be looked into this time are including Management of Diabetes Mellitus, Heart Diseases and Management of Breast Cancer. It is our hope that these topics will help you in recollecting the experiences you have in your working places. If you have something to share either at the AGM or through an Article in the Newsletter, PLEASE send it to us and we will make sure it is made known.

As some of you may have heard, there is a new emerging fever in the Country, which is a viral kind of fever known as Dengue Fever, and also with the already existing H1N1 (Swine Flu), I am thinking of having experts from the National Health Laboratory Quality Assurance Training Centre (NHL-QATC) in Dar es Salaam to have a quick presentation on them. I think it may be worthy having some knowledge on them including having knowledge what that Laboratory can do for us.

Venue:

Venue for this year’s AGM will be at the Lamada Hotels and Apartments located along Kigogo Road near Msimbazi Centre in Ilala District Dar es Salaam. The venue has been carefully selected due to several advantages including freedom to choose a place to stay according to your budget and having a meeting place with different look as from the previous.

Accommodation at Lamada can be arranged as follows:

   1.

      Lamada Apartments are rented at TZS.60,000/= per day, they have two bed rooms with separate toilets and bath facilities, sharing sitting room, TV, kitchen and of course the entrance door. With these apartments members can share an apartment but not bedroom of which each will need to pay TZS.30,000/=. Here you can make semi-home life as you can have facilities to cook despite the fact that you are having breakfast paid on the accommodation bill.

   2.

      Lamada Guest house, rooms are at TZS.30,000/= per night with breakfast

   3.

      Near Lamada is Msimbazi Centre, there accommodation is as low as TZS.12,000/=. The facility is about five minutes walk from Lamada Hotel and is a well known Christian Centre. Members can also make arrangements to have accommodation there.

   4.

      Lamada is in the centre of Ilala near the Dar es Salaam Regional Block, several accommodation options are available.

   5.

      It is important to know those who are interested to get accommodation at Lamada apartments well in time as they are quickly overbooked. As these are apartments which may need to be arranged for sharing please let me know so as we can help in bookings. Members can do their arrangements with Msimbazi Centre and other accommodation places.

Please note that we may assist in bookings where possibilities are available.

Registration, Meals and Logistics:

The AGM registration will be like for the last year, TZS.100,000/= for Registration and TZS.10,000/= for Annual fees totalling TZS.110,000/=. The Registration fees will meet costs of:

   1.

      Conference facilities

   2.

      Mid morning Tea/Refreshments with snacks

   3.

      Buffet Lunch

   4.

      Evening Tea/Refreshments with snacks

   5.

      Dinner Party on Wednesday September 8, 2010 evening (need to register free to facilitate preparations)

   6.

      Supper will be left to individual participants, as the place is having various eating centres in proximity including a number of Nyama Choma places, the Executive Committee agreed that evening meals be left in the hands of individual members to take care except for the last day’s dinner party.

Regarding the CDH/DDH Annual Meeting this is determined by the MOHSW in collaboration with CSSC. The past two years this meeting did not take place, partly because of the new CDH agreement being with the Councils in place of the DDHs which had agreement with the MOHSW. There will be time for DDH/CDH, VA and Training Institutions, separate meetings to give members time to share experiences, but TCMA is not assuring you of the CDH Meeting with the Permanent Secretary (PS – MOHSW). Please remember that the DDH meeting is not a direct responsibility of TCMA as it is coordinated by CSSC. It is therefore important to note that all matter related to DDH meeting be communicated to CSSC or through us for sending to CSSC.

As it was for the last AGM, this year in our programme we will try to give some sufficient time on Christian Sharing and or fellowship. The intention of this part is to have a kind of discussion whereby a selected person can discuss some controversial Christian/life/work issues after a short or probing presentation.

As you will note our Newsletter has been missing information from members and experiences from the frontline of services. This is because your contribution has been missing completely. I understand that there are a lot of issues happening in your places such as PPP participation/non-participation, service delivering challenges in places with scarce resources, how you meet financial challenges sharing your best practices. Some of you are even doing some studies be it operational or scientific. Can we have some highlights to share? The Executive committee had a concern and asked me to communicate this to you. Please let me have information before mid-August so that I may print the paper in time. If you cannot send it earlier please come with it at the AGM it will appear in the next Newsletter.

As was for last years, when AGM time comes, all interested parties prepare themselves for meeting you and trying to look in our common problems and successes. This year we still have to remind ourselves of some issues at stake, please prepare all the information you need to relieve yourself from troubles while in Dar es Salaam. Please be reminded of the following:

   1.

      Please remember if you have not sent the previous annual reports do so, however if you have not sent the recent one, come with it at the AGM or send it earlier.

   2.

      Please send us urgently any other requests you wish accomplished by either CSSC and/or TCMA or you need help through CSSC to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. If you send this information in time, we will be able to have it looked into in time before you are at the AGM.

   3.

      As was for past years, Training Institutions are invited to attend the AGM and from last year’s experience, I wish to request the Principals of these Institutions to help me help them better. Please send in some information or requests on what you want taken care this year. Is there any special complaint you wish addressed so that CSSC people can help in this. Please do not hesitate to say so. We are there for you.

With these few requests, I beg that you may make a point of fulfilling them.
