Health Service improved but FBOs missing the opportunities

Health services improved in Tanzania significantly in some areas, however, the Faith Based Organisation (FBO) Health facilities have been facing difficult in accessing the benefits and opportunities from government, lack of collaboration and many other factors tend the support to be reduced which resulted in minimal allocation of funds.

Since 2007 strategy has been made to strength the FBOs health facilities by developing Service Agreement which might assist in quality health services provision.

CSSC conducted its Technical Advisor Committee meeting whereby members shared the current status in Service Agreement in the FBOs.

So far, there are six FBO health facilities that have already signed the agreement with Local Councils and CSSC Competence Centre has accomplished costing Analysis for 25 hospitals, 9 health centres, and 8 dispensaries.

However, Service Agreement is still facing many challenges as no budget allocated in the Comprehensive Council Health Plan (CCHP) for Service Agreement and clear guidelines for implementation. Therefore there is a need for more advocacy for the Service Agreement implementation guidelines to be included in CCHP in the coming financial year.
