CIM/GTZ donated a modern Resource Centre to CSSC

A German based Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM) which is a part of German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) has financially supported Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC) in establishing the Documentation and resource center to cater for tailor made use of information and development of management tools and related capacity training.

A modern, Tshs 32ml worth facility, to serve information and training material needs for Capacity building and sharing of best practices and successful stories from CSSC, its Zonal Offices and Member Institutions (MIs), will document the development of church owned social service facilities in Tanzania from 1992 when CSSC was established onwards, the progress of CSSC members towards their strategic goals to serve their communities and make related policy papers available.

Handing Over the facility which is situated at CSSC Head offices, Gisela Fette, a representative from CIM said that with the financial contribution, CIM is sure of supporting the knowledge management, training and information aims of CSSC as well as the capacity building which is always one of the core aims of CIM

“CIM would appreciate to hear over the next few years of the successful use of the know how of what this centre stands for. I feel much honored to hand over and inaugurate the new centre” she said.

Fette said, since many years CIM and CSSC have been collaborating very fruitfully and now the two institutions are in process of extending the cooperation by placing the fourth integrated expert at CSSC Zone Office.

Accepting the donation on behalf of CSSC Director, Acting Director, Dr Marcel Madili acknowledged CIM/GTZ and said that the contribution came at right time, and that will assists CSSC in working on the development of tools to strengthen the capacity at Head Office and Zonal level and document the rationale for various policy papers on gender, population and development, environment and HIV/AIDS at workplace sufficiently.

 “The facility will streamline and strategize on management topics and research to assure quality work and improve our work on policy papers and brings quality information to CSSC which is of utmost importance when diversifying funding sources in light of the recent financial crunch, which also affected supporters of CSSC a necessary effort to maintain the level of support CSSC can give to its many members”, he said Dr Madili who is also the Principal Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

The centre is equipped with a wide range of training material, reports, studies and related tools, has electronic back-up and connection to the available Documents and their filing in which all data will be saved for easy access. In addition it will support transparency and help staff to have an informed decision making based on up-to-date information.
