Eastern Zone Information

EASTERN ZONE
Eastern zone is one of the five (5) CSSC Zone in Tanzania. The zone is in the Eastern to Central part of the country. It is composed of the 5 administrative regions Dar – es salaam, Coast, Tanga, Morogoro, Dodoma and Zanzibar. The zone serves a population of 9,473,539 with the area of approximately 175,178 sq km.
Eastern zone covers 22 Dioceses being 15 of Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT) in which seven are Anglican Church Tanzania (ACT), five Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT), one  African Inland Church (AIC), one Menonite, one Biblical Church, one  Moravian) and 6  Roman Catholic (TEC).

ZONAL DIOCESES EDUCATION AND HEALTH INSTITUTIONS
Education:
There are 35 Secondary schools, one University run by the CCT – ACT Church Tanzania, several primary schools and a good number of pre primary schools.

Health:
Eastern zone has a total of 174 Health institutions distributed as follows
•    15 Hospital:-     One (1) Dental Consultant at Dodoma (DCMC),
Four (4) CDH, 2 active this are Muheza and St. Francis Ifakara and other two are on progress (Mvumi and Turiani Hospitals).
Eleven Voluntary Hospital of which one is Bumbuli already signed Service Agreement.
•    7 Health training schools:- (4 Nursing schools Teule, Mvumi, Edgamaranta and GUNDAL Nursing and 2 Clinical Officer training at  Mvumi and Bumbuli and one Laboratory school at Mvumi. 
•    15 Health Centres,
•    130 dispensaries
•    7  Health related institutions in record, this are
o    Kijiji cha Matumaini Dodoma Municipal
o    Mlali rehabilitation unity In Kongwa
o    Luis Amigo Physiotherapy in Morogoro
o    Mgolole orphanage centre in Morogoro municipal
o    Amani Centre for mental retareded in Chamwino Morogoro
MAIN ROLE OF THE ZONE
1:     Advocacy and Lobbying in insuring quality service in both Health and education
 2:     Capacity Building to staff both in short term and long term training.
3:     In collaboration with the CSSC head office CDD unity facilitate Consultancy and Program Development among its members
4:    Institutional Development
5:    Fostering Partnership among social services providers in the zone
6:    Looking for ways which will sustain the zone and CSSC in general
7:    Facilitate its members in conducting Operational Researches
8:    Strengthening Network among its institutions, zone office, head office and     other stakeholders.
9:    Making sure that there is a Gender Equity in the zone
PARTINER
Local Government for both Health and Education department is the major partner with other development partners through CSSC head office and individual dioceses.

IMPACT/SUCCESS/ACHIVEMENT
We are looking forward in providing quality and affordable services in both education and health for betterment of our community.
